Approaching Lent 2010 there are many questions that present themselves for the folks attending to the space surrounding the tables of Christian worship. Looking for these questions is enough of a journey in and of itself but there’s more. For the visual artists entrusted with our worship spaces there is also an opportunity to open up this conversation to the full congregation of seekers and believers, an opportunity to seek questions of faith through visual imagery. I want to open up this discussion to anyone interested.

Please leave the questions you are discovering this year (as we get closer to Ash Wednesday) regarding your own journey.

Leave ideas you’ve found helpful in the past for creating a meaningful Lenten environment.

You can also post questions for those of us participating with the blog here at GospelColors.com about working out solutions, techniques and tools.

One question that always challenges me about Lent and visual expression is the relationship between craft and art. Much of my work is about being faithful to the process. It’s not just about what things are going to look like in worship but how do I realize a fuller expression of these themes in the journey it takes to bring a visual environment for this season in the Christian year.
